Registering
Registration may be required if you plan to post new topics or reply
to existing topics (depending on the particular forum you are using).
Registration is free, and you are not required to post your real
name. However, you are required to post your actual e-mail address,
.
Posting Behavior and Privileges
Our approach to Community Development has always been to create a mature and friendly atmosphere throughout our forums. Personal attacks against anyone - whether it be another user of the forums, a staff member for the American Notary Network, or even the "deadbeat company" that has somehow "misplaced" your invoice - is prohibited. We do not tolerate personal attacks, flames, or otherwise inflammatory posts. If you must inform others of a problem you're having, do so in a mature and "responsible" manner.
It is really quite simple. If you avoid being verbally abusive or otherwise offensive, you can post and discuss freely in our forums. We very strongly encourage sound and honest discussion. It is good to disagree at times and express those disagreements. Just do so in a mature and respectable fashion.
Smilies
You've probably seen others use smilies before in e-mail messages
or other bulletin board posts. Smilies are keyboard characters
used to convey an emotion, such as a smile :) or a frown :(. On
this message board we provide the "smilely" for you. When composing
a message, look for the "smilely" icon above your message box.
Click it and a window will pop up with your choice of emoticons
to use. Simply click the one you want and it will automatically
be placed at your cursor location.
Moderators
Moderators control individual forums. They can edit, delete, or prune any posts in their forums. If you have a question about a particular forum, you should direct it to the forum moderator.
Changing Your Profile
You may easily change any info stored in your registration profile, using the "Edit Profile" button located near the top of each page. Once logged in, simply click on this button and all of your profile information will appear on screen. You may change any items, except your username.
Cookies
This bulletin board uses cookies to store your logged in and your username and password, if you set it in preferences. These cookies are stored on your browser. Cookies are not used to track your movement or perform any function other than to enhance your use of the bulletin board. If your browser does not support cookies, or you have not enabled cookies on your browser, many of these time-saving features will not work properly. Note: You need to have cookies enabled in your browser in order to use these forums.
Editing or Deleting Your Posts
You may edit or delete your own posts at any time. Just go to the topic where the post to be edited is located and you will see an edit and delete link in the header of your message. Click on this link to edit or delete the post. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum moderator or the bulletin board administrator. Note that if your post was the start of a new topic, deleting your post will result in the removal of the entire topic (all replies after your topic will also be deleted).
Adding Signatures
You may use a signature (commonly used in e-mail messages) on
your posts. If you click on the "Edit Profile" button at the top
bulletin board pages, you will be able to edit your profile, including
your standard signature. You will find a text box located at the
bottom of your profile sheet. Here you can add you standard signature.
(your signature appears at the bottom of all your posts) If left
blank, no signature will appear.
Note: You may not use HTML coding in your signature file.
Attaching Files
For security reasons, you may not attach files to any posts. Small images may be added with the "Add Image" feature, but keep the image size to a reasonable size. Maximum size of image file(s): 15k. Large images WILL be deleted.
Searching For Specific Posts
You may search for specific posts based on a word or words found in the posts, user name, date, and particular forum(s). Just click on the "search" link at the top of most pages.
Censoring Posts
The bulletin board administrators have the power to censor certain words that may be posted. This censoring is not an exact science, however, so certain words may be censored out of context. Please realize that the censoring, if any censoring is being performed, is being done by a computer based on the words that are being screened. Words that are censored are replaced with asterisks.
Lost User Name and/or Password
Retrieving your username and password is simple, assuming that
e-mail features are turned on for this bulletin board. Click on
the "Login" button and follow the "lost password" link. It will
prompt you for your username so your username and password e-mailed
instantly to your e-mail address of record.
E-mail Notification
If you create a new topic, you have the option of receiving an
e-mail notification every time someone posts a reply to your topic.
Just check the e-mail notification box on the "New Topic" forum
when you create your new topic, if you want to use this feature.
What is that E-mail Topic button?
When you visit this bulletin board, you will see a button at the
top of the topic called "E-mail Topic". Clicking on this will
e-mail the entire topic to a specified e-mail address of your
choice.
Can I search private forums?
Currently, only administrators and moderators can search through
private forums. We do plan to support searching of private forums
for other authorized users in the future.
